USDA Approved Facility

We are a USDA approved facility able to handle your birds from outside of the US. If you are planning to take a trip outside of the US please contact us to discuss the process of shipping, processing, and receiving the trophy shipment. Birds coming in from foreign countries have to be de-toxed per USDA guidelines. You CANNOT bring in birds through an approved facility and then take them to another establishment or keep them at your home. They have to go where the permit is for disposition/treating/mounting or returning the treated skins to you if desired. Failure to follow the set guidelines can result in seizure and/or fines. It's treated as seriously as smuggling any contraban into the country.

Background Info

Due to a recent outbreak, Mexico is considered to be affected with
highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). In response, the APHIS
placed restrictions on the importation of avian (bird and poultry)
products from Mexico; specifically, imported avian products must be
accompanied by an import permit issued by Veterinary Services (VS).
In most instances, the import permit will require that the product be
mitigated for HPAI prior to importation. Bird trophies from Mexico
either require processing to inactivate the HPAI virus or be consigned
to an APHIS-approved establishment for processing (mounting). Bird
trophies that are fully taxidermy finished (mounted) continue to be

Game birds and waterfowl that are being imported as trophies must be sent to a taxidermy facility that has been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Veterinary Services. A list of approved taxidermists in a particular state can be obtained from the Animal Products Staff, National Center for Import-Export telephone (301) 851-3300. Email: askNCIE.Products@aphis.usda.gov.  For more information and guidelines see the Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS) manual on Trophies.

Bones, horns and hoofs that are imported as trophies may be imported without further restrictions if they are clean, dry and free of undried pieces of hide, flesh, or sinew.

Many animals, game birds, products and byproducts from such animals and game birds are prohibited, or allowed only restricted, entry into the United States. Specific requirements vary according to the country of export. For more information about importations by country, please call the USDAAnimal and Plant Health Inspection Service(APHIS), the National Import-Export Center, tel. (301)851-3300, fax (301)734-8226. Since hours of service and availability of officers from the other agencies involved may vary from port to port, you are strongly urged to check with your anticipated port of arrival before importing a pet or other animal. This will assure expeditious processing and reduce the possibility of unnecessary delays.

Game birds, deer, moose, elk, bison, wild sheep and goats from Canada are admissible into the U.S. at this time. Domestic sheep and goats are still prohibited without an import license.

In order to recieve birds form Mexico, the approved establishment must be listed in VSPS as a "HPAI" approved facility.
Only bird carcasses, skins, and capes will be processed on site.

Bird carcases will be thawed on site and the hides/skins tanned. Trimmings will be incinerated.
